When does the coverage of an insurance policy start?

When does the coverage of an insurance policy start?

The medical coverage of an insured person for Sickness starts for the first insurance policies at the following intervals, provided that the first installment has been paid:

  • Thirty days from the date of commencement of insurance, for hospitalizations in Greece and in European countries.
  • One hundred and eighty days from the date of commencement of insurance, for hospitalizations outside European countries.

The coverage of the hospitalization of the insured for an Accident starts on the date of commencement of the insurance, for Greece and abroad, provided that the first debt of the insurance policy has been paid.

Practically if a first hospital insurance premium is issued for example February 2 but the first debt was repaid on February 15, then the above intervals count from the day the premiums are paid.
