Under the new legislation, the following insurance obligations apply from 1 June 2025:
1. Businesses with annual turnover above €500,000
Premises, equipment, trucks and stock must be insured against the following risks:
- Forest fire
- Flood
- Earthquake
Businesses that do not comply face a fine of €10,000.
2. Vehicle owners
Fire and flood cover must be added to vehicle insurance.
Owners without this cover will not be entitled to state compensation for damage from a natural disaster.
Please note: these mandatory covers concern specific risks and do not cover all natural disasters.
